What a Queensland Plumbing Licence Covers

Queensland plumbing work needs two licences: an occupational licence for the worker and a contractor licence for the firm. The QBCC issues both.

The occupational licence proves the person's skills. The contractor licence proves the firm behind the job has the financial capacity and the training to run it. Our licence line reads QBCC No: 15024607, covering licensed plumbing and gasfitting.

From there the classes split:

  • A plumber's licence covers plumbing work, except anything needing its own endorsement.
  • A drainer's licence covers drainage work below ground level, with the same exception.
  • Gas work sits on its own licence, and Queensland lets only a licensed gasfitter touch it: fitting, altering, repairing, servicing, checking or signing off a gas system and its pipework. Before we begin, you are entitled to sight the gas work licence.

What You Can Expect When We Visit

  1. 1

    You Describe It

Phone (07) 3523 7121 or fill in the contact form with what you are seeing. Detail helps us arrive prepared, from a townhouse near The Zone to a unit off Morris Road.

  2. 2

    We Diagnose on Site

The plumber traces the fault on the spot, whether that means a mixer in a 1970s bathroom or a gas appliance line.

  3. 3

    We Quote Before We Start

A fixed quote comes before any work starts: flat-rate pricing, no hidden fees, and nothing begins until you approve the figure.

  4. 4

    We Test and Hand Over

We run the system, confirm everything works, and give you whatever paperwork the job creates. Payment is card or EFTPOS on site, or ask us about Fix now, pay later.

How Plumbing Work Is Regulated in Queensland

Oversight splits between two bodies: the QBCC looks after licences and the notifiable work register, while the City of Moreton Bay checks applications, grants permits and sends inspectors.

Regulated plumbing and drainage work sorts into permit work, notifiable work and minor work. The law puts all three behind a licensed plumber or drainer, which the QBCC says safeguards the house, your health and your rights as the owner.

The paperwork reaches you either way:

  • After notifiable work you receive a copy of the Form 4. The QBCC can supply one if it never shows up, and an address search on their online registers shows whether a Form 4 was filed for the property.
  • After gas work on a new install or alteration, the gasfitter gives you a compliance certificate for the system straight away and files a copy with the network operator within five days.
  • At any stage of notifiable work, you can ask for an inspection.

If something looks defective or non-compliant, raise it with us first. The QBCC takes complaints online where a Form 4 is missing.

The Suburbs We Work Across

Our run spreads from Rothwell across six neighbours: Deception Bay, Newport, Kippa-Ring, Clontarf, Mango Hill and North Lakes. Every neighbour with a page of its own is listed on our suburbs we cover list.

The run takes in detached homes and townhouses on the sandstone rise, plus the small self-contained units around the aged care settings, which get the same licensed hands on every job.

Questions People Ask About Us

Call (07) 3523 7121

What is the difference between a plumber and a drainer?

One class covers the pipework and fixtures; the other covers drainage work below ground level. Queensland splits the classes, and the law requires a licensed person for either.

Does plumbing work in Rothwell come with a warranty?

Yes, our labour carries a lifetime labour warranty, and our Fix-It-or-It's-Free guarantee covers you (T&Cs apply). Every job is done by a licensed plumber.

Who inspects plumbing work in a Rothwell home?

The City of Moreton Bay checks applications, grants permits and sends inspectors, and at any stage of notifiable work you can ask for an inspection. Licensing sits with the QBCC, along with the register of notifiable work.

Does the team work on units and rentals as well as houses?

Yes, we work for owner-occupiers, landlords, tenants and unit owners. Who approves the job differs in a rental or a unit, so tell us your situation when you call.
