Taps and Toilets
Dripping mixers, running cisterns, leaking spindles and full replacements:
Rothwell Plumbing Services is the full-service plumber Rothwell households and small businesses call when something leaks, drips, blocks or dies. We're QBCC licensed plumbers and gasfitters covering the sandstone rise from Anzac Avenue down to the Saltwater Creek flats, and we work on everything from a dripping mixer to a full bathroom fit-out.
If we're late, $100 comes off your bill

What we handle: repairs, replacements, new installations and maintenance, sorted by which part of the property they touch, so you can see exactly where your job fits.
Proud MPAQ members with 200+ five-star Google reviews and a lifetime labour warranty.
Our regular run covers detached houses and townhouses across the suburb, the retirement villages off Morris Road, and the shopfronts around The Zone retail cluster. At the last census the suburb counted 2,822 dwellings, most of them separate houses, and area-level figures put population growth at -0.9 per cent over five years. That means the work here is mostly looking after the homes already standing, not plumbing brand-new estates.
Ring (07) 3523 7121 and tell us what's wrong. You get $0 call-out fees, a fixed quote before any work starts and same-day where we can, 7 days a week.
T&Cs apply. Mention this offer when booking.

Home plumbing in a Rothwell house or unit covers the whole run from the water meter and the gas connection to every tap, drain and appliance in between. The suburb's housing stock was built in two main waves: the 1960s to the 1980s, then the 1980s to the 2000s. Most homes are brick or brick-veneer, so the pipes inside them range from mid-life to well past it.
Salt and soil matter here. Rothwell sits beside Deception Bay, and sea air carries a light salt load into streets on the northern side while the wetlands keep conditions damp. Buried metal fittings near the coast age faster than the same fittings inland, which is why we look at ground conditions before quoting.
The southern streets sit low and close to the water table, so any digging there meets wet ground sooner than you'd expect. Retirees' units and aged care homes add their own wrinkle: lots of small hot water units installed around the same time now failing together, which our hot water plumbing page covers in detail.
Who looks after which pipe: Unitywater maintains the street mains and the sewer, and the pipes past the meter on your side of the boundary are the owner's to maintain.

A broken pipe, or a worn fitting being repaired or replaced, counts as minor work in Queensland. The law requires a licensed plumber for it, with no permit and no Form 4 involved.
Putting in a brand-new toilet, shower or basin, or shifting one that's already there, falls under notifiable work. Council approval isn't needed, and we lodge a Form 4 with the QBCC inside 10 business days and hand you a copy.
Examples of each:
A handful of tiny jobs are unregulated: a tap washer or jumper valve, a shower head, a filter cartridge, and the soft washers inside a toilet cistern. Anyone with the right knowledge may do those, provided the finished result meets the required standard. Replacing an entire tap or toilet is not on that list.
Gas fitting is its own licence. Everything from running a new cooktop line to testing and certifying gas pipework belongs to licensed gasfitters, and it pays to ask for the gasfitter's licence card before anyone begins.
One more protection worth knowing: if the Form 4 never shows up, or the job looks non-compliant, the QBCC accepts complaints through a web form that covers plumbing and drainage problems.

The faults that can't wait are a burst pipe, a gas smell, flood water in the house, and water or gas gone from every outlet. Tenancy law gives renters the same list, plus a toilet out of action, so it's a handy rule of thumb for anyone.
Everything else, from a single drip to a slow leak under the sink, suits a booked visit at a time you choose. Our emergency plumber page walks through the first steps for the urgent ones, and the section below has the short version.
Before you pick up the phone:
We're available 24/7, 7 days a week, with no extra charge for nights, weekends or public holidays.
Slow or gurgling drains are the other middle category. If water is backing up rather than gone altogether, our blocked drains page explains what we find in this suburb's older branch lines and how we clear them.

A plumbing price depends on what's failed, the parts the job needs, how awkward the access is, and how long the crew is on site. No two jobs cost the same, and we won't guess yours over the phone.
A proper written quote lists:
Laid out that way, you can line two quotes up next to each other and question anything that looks off. We price flat-rate and give you the fixed figure before any work starts, so the number you approve is the number on the invoice.

There are $0 call-out fees on every Rothwell job, with no extra fee for nights, weekends or public holidays.
A fixed quote before any work starts means flat-rate pricing and no hidden fees on your invoice.
Our Fix-It-or-It's-Free guarantee covers you (T&Cs apply), labour has a lifetime labour warranty, and if we're late, $100 comes off your bill.
QBCC No: 15024607 covers our licensed plumbing and gasfitting. Every job is done by a licensed plumber, and we're licensed and insured.

We also take jobs in the neighbouring suburbs. If you're just over the border, we can help there too:
No, there are $0 call-out fees on every job. After-hours visits carry no extra charge either, and a fixed quote comes before any work starts.
Look the licence up on the QBCC's public register first. Then get the scope, the materials and the labour priced in writing, and ask for your Form 4 copy after any new fixture goes in.
Rothwell's homes went up in two waves, from the 1960s to the 2000s, so plenty of original pipework remains. Solder containing lead was the norm on Australian copper pipes before 1989, so older places deserve a close look at the water service.
A burst pipe, a gas smell, flood water, a supply that's gone from every outlet, and a toilet out of action all count as urgent. Drips and slow leaks suit a booked visit.
Gas work is for licensed gasfitters alone in Queensland, whether installing, servicing or certifying the pipework. Ask to see the licence card before anyone starts.
No, minor, notifiable and unregulated jobs need nothing from council. Permit work, such as the drains for a brand-new house, does, and the plumber secures that approval before starting.
